- Position the brackets on top of your blind so that they are not directly over any large components. The first and last brackets should be between 50mm-100mm. If you have a wider blind space out the remaining brackets equally, once again taking care not to place these over any big components.
- To mark the positions in the fitting location you can either raise the blind with the brackets on top to your fitting position and mark the wall with a pencil, or use a tape measure and measure the bracket positions along the blind, transferring those measurements to your fitting location.
- Using the hole positions of the brackets, drill holes if required and screw them into place (use appropriate screws and wall plugs).
- Open the swivel arm on the headrail.
- Place the headrail into the brackets and close the swivel arm.
- Install child safety cleat on the wall beside the blind. You can find full written instructions for fitting Venetian blinds here.
How do you position Venetian blinds?
There are a variety of ways you can position your new Venetian blinds. The first thing to consider is how you’ll avoid obstructions such as handles on windows, as you want your blinds to sit in front of your window without getting caught as it is raised and lowered.
Next, if your blinds are being fitted outside the recess, check you have equal spacing and alignment at each side for an even finish. This will require getting measurements for the width of the blind and the width of the recess to be taken into account when ordering your blind.
How to install Venetian blind brackets
When ordering your blinds, you should have already established whether you intend to fit your blinds in one of the following ways:
- Inside the recess – where the blind fits within the window recess for a flush finish
For recess fitting choose “Recess Size” in our product option Measure To. - Outside the recess – where the blind is mounted outside of the window recess
For this fitting type choose “Exact Size” in our product option.
Make sure you have the correct screw type for your wall or surface before you begin any drilling work.
